It all began back in 2002, when…
- Apple introduces the 2nd generation iPod and sells 600,000 units
- Michael Jackson dangled Prince Michael II off a balcony from a Berlin hotel room
- Chicago won the Oscar for ‘Best Film’
- Brisbane Lions took out the AFL Premiership
- Thomas Johansson & Jennifer Capriati took out the respective Australian Open titles
- Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her Golden Jubilee
- East Timor regained its independence
- Australia was rocked by the Bali bombings
And Sue Burke took over the reigns to what was known as ‘Geelong Best Signs’ in November.
With a tight knit core team, Sue embarked on a new era in driving the local Geelong signage manufacturing company into the future. Even though the company output may have been smaller, Sue created a client focused, design rich signage company and instilled the culture Best Group still represents today.
Joined by her son, Jacob Burke, the company started to rapidly adapt to changing clients needs and begin to grow into new markets… and hence the story of Best Group rapidly started to change.
Combining Sue’s graphic design background with Jacob’s business marketing enthusiasm, the company has experienced many name changes, and has effectively been known by clients and the market as:
- Geelong Best Signs
- Best Signs
- Best Sign Visual Communications…
And now, Best Group is known as a growing, innovative signage consultancy servicing the entire Australasian market.
10 years has seen many varied strategic focuses for the company including investment and development in manufacturing facilities in Geelong Victoria, together with raipd market expansion to include the wider Victorian market, and indeed the nation.
The period has also been witness to some of the most challenging trading conditions our national economy has seen in decades. It is a testament to our team and indeed our clients who have embraced our unrivalled pursuit of client-centric service delivery and innovation in the work we deliver. It is due to this that we have been able to continually invest in the company and experience consolidated growth over the past few years.
In 2010, following the opening of a brand new state of the art manufacturing facility in North Geelong Victoria, Best Group strategically embarked on a much different direction for the future of the company.
Shutting down manufacturing and moving into consultancy and project management was never an easy decision, but as we reflect on that decision today, it couldn’t have been a better one. For us as a company, and you as our valued clients and business partners.
Thanks must go to the core team at Best Group for their continued passion and loyalty throughout what has been a few years of dramatic change. We’ve had our ups and downs, but above all, we couldnt be prouder of where we find ourselves today.
With a growing team, Best Group is now a consutlancy with unparalleled industry experience and our client-centric focus is only going to get stronger. Our philosophy of collaborative partnerships with clients and suppliers has remained unwavered and collaboration is what will drive us into the future.
Our portfolio work is becoming widely recognised as industry leading… and we are ready to continue that reputation! Check out some of our recent work at www.bestgroupaust.com
What will the next 10 years bring? Who knows exactly… but we are all excited for the journey and we look forward to working with our clients to continually innovate, and challenge the norm.
10 years has passed quickly… and who would have thought that we would have gone from delivering A-Frames and Banners in 2002, to delivering one of Australia’s most challenging CBD Sky-Signage projects in 2012.
So, the story brings us to the conclusion of 2012. In true Best Group style, we are ready to have a well earned break, and recharge the batteries for a bigger and better 2013.
No doubt… a few drinks will be had to celebrate this momentous occasion!
We’ll be closed from Friday 21st December 2012 at 12noon and we look forward to embarking on the next 10 years of Best Group from Monday 7th January 2013!
Have a great Xmas… and see you in 2013!
